Veera Lohiniva (b. 1990) is an artist based in Turku, Finland, who works primarily with performance art, video art, installation art and photography. Her works are contemplative images that are based on mindfulness and zen-meditation. Her live works are quiet but intense performances, with delicate movements, creating a focused atmosphere and hypnotic energy. Her works often take on the existential questions and insights that emerge from experiences of separation and oneness – she is inspired by the thought that we, at the same time, are one with everything, but also separate, bodily beings. Her works have been on show in various group exhibitions and events in Finland, and also internationally in South Korea, Sweden, Czech Republic, Slovakia and USA. She has had artist-in-residencies in Mariehamn, Åland (June 2018), Budapest, Hungary (March 2018), and Detroit (MI), USA (July 2017). Her debut solo exhibition was on show in Myymälä2-gallery, Helsinki, in February-March 2019.
