Veera Lohiniva (b. 1990) is an artist based in Turku, Finland, who works primarily with performance art and video art.
Her works are contemplative images that lean on mindfulness. The live works are quiet but intense performances, with delicate movements, creating a focused atmosphere and hypnotic energy.
In her practice, she is especially inspired by presence, sincerity and disappearance, and showing works that are still, or always, in progress.
Both her performances and videos have been on show in various group exhibitions and happenings in Finland, and also in Sweden, Czech Republic, Slovakia and USA.
She has had artist-in-residencies in Mariehamn, Åland (June 2018), Detroit (MI), USA (July 2017), and Budapest, Hungary (March 2018).
Her debut solo exhibition was on show in Myymälä2-gallery, Helsinki, in February-March 2019.

□Anticipation.□□ A site-specific solo performance in an abandoned silo, in Rimavská Sobota, Slovakia, at Projekt Ruiny event, by commission. Photos: Svalo Uhrin This performance was about anticipation and 'expectations vs reality'. Before the event I worked three days in Rimavská Sobota, finalizing the performance I had started to prepare in advance. Some of the things that interested me was the round shape of the silo, its blue coloured wall, and its dreamy acoustics. ✨ Thank you David Petráš and Štefan Szabó for inviting me to make this performance, and lots of love to the whole @projektruiny team. □□ #performanceart #liveart #contemporaryart #projektruiny
